Arizona State Sen. Sine Kerr (R-25) today criticized Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-Ariz.) for Hobbs' veto of SB 1040, titled, the "Arizona Accommodations for All Children Act."

'Unconscionable that the Governor & Democrats can't bring themselves to support a bill that provides basic privacy & protections for our young girls!'

The bill "requires a public school to provide access to a single-occupancy or employee restroom or changing facility to a person who is unwilling or unable to use a multi-occupancy restroom or changing facility designated for the person's sex or multi-occupancy sleeping quarters," according to the Arizona State Senate bill summary.

SB1040 "grants a private cause of action, against the public school, to a person who encounters a person of the opposite sex in specified areas. Designates this legislation as the Arizona Accommodations for All Children Act (Act)," said the summary.

The bill passed the Senate on January 28, 2023 and the House on May 15. Hobbs vetoed the bill on June 8.
